rage Syndrome in cocker spaniels & other breeds
Since this website was set up some 5 years ago, I have had so many contacts from owners of aggressive cocker spaniels and other breeds from all over the world and I know that similar websites have been launched in other languages. The information that I have gained from those contacts has been very valuable and it is my intention to write a book about the subject as soon as I am able to.
I am unable to access broadband since I moved 18 months ago and this makes dealing with contacts very difficult as I have had to rely on visiting the local library to use the internet. Therefore I have decided that I will keep the website open for information only and close the contact facility.
There is no quick test to decide whether or not a dog has rage syndrome, but generally if a dog is attacking without any triggers then this would lead me to suspect that the dog might have the condition. I would always advise worried owners to take their dog to the vet and ask for a thorough medical check up to see whether there is an underlying medical reason causing the aggression. If no medical explanation can be found, the next step should be a referral by your vet to an experienced canine behaviourist (preferably one who is a member of one of the professional bodies such as the APBC).
I’d like to thank all of the people who have been so appreciative of my help in the past and hope that newcomers to the site will find the information they need.
